Faversham House Aged Care Facility

Faversham House provides full accommodation services for the aged with individualised and supported care. Delightful landscaped gardens provide an enhanced outlook for the residents. Respite care is also available for low level care.

Faversham House is designed to blend in with the existing neighbourhood houses and streetscape, creating a very welcoming, home-like atmosphere. Built in 2006, and with a new wing completed in 2012, Faversham House consists of a number of wings set around pleasant communal dining and living areas, all with access to outdoor recreation areas. Smaller living areas, located in each wing, offer a warm, cosy ambiance with tea and coffee making facilities.

Located in the beautiful tree-lined streets of Canterbury, the buildings are situated in landscaped gardens, providing a delightful outlook for residents and recreation throughout. All bedrooms in Faversham House have an en-suite, are air conditioned and have access to telephone and cable television connections.

The security, dignity, comfort and companionship of our residents is paramount. We provide individualised and supported care in a home-like environment. You can have peace of mind knowing that our fully trained and qualified support staff are on duty around the clock.

A consultative approach is used to ensure all residents receive the appropriate level of care, in accordance with our commitment to the Eden Alternative Aged Care philosophy. We welcome residents and their families or representatives to participate in decisions about their care.

Care and Support

All BASS Care staff are carefully selected and highly skilled and experienced in Aged Care. The facility has 6 units, with an in-charge Manager for each unit. A Registered Nurse Division One is in attendance at all times, with a team of Division Two Nurses and Personal Care attendants to assist. We maintain very high staffing ratios and rarely use agency staff.

The Lifestyle team delivers an extensive Lifestyle Program. They provide a wide variety of activities to meet individual interests, cultural backgrounds, social, emotional and physical abilities.

Continued participation in community clubs and associations is encouraged, as well as community participation through visits by schools & volunteers.


Ministers from various churches visit Faversham House to conduct regular services.


Faversham House has “state-of-the-art” kitchen facilities with all meals prepared and cooked on site. A balanced and varied menu is provided, with a focus on fresh food and home style cooking. Our residents are invited to participate in menu planning, whilst family and friends are welcome to join residents for a meal. A private dining room is also available for small functions.

Dementia Specific Unit

Faversham House has a Dementia Specific Unit which has it’s own specifically designed secure garden area.

A continuous improvement management system is in place. The Aged Care Quality Council’s continuous ongoing audit program ensures Faversham House is externally and independently assessed.

BASS Care is a Commonwealth Government approved Residential Aged Care Provider. At BASS Care we understand that moving to a supported residence is a difficult decision. Prospective residents and their families are most welcome to make an appointment to visit and inspect the facilities at Faversham House.

Entry is subject to eligibility based on care needs as determined by the Aged Care Assessment Service (A.C.A.S.). Referral to this service can be made by a local medical practitioner.

If you are on our waiting list, please contact us every month to keep us informed of your intention to remain on the list. Forms will be destroyed in a confidential manner if no contact is made.
