BASScare is a NFP which operates an integrated program of services including meals-on-wheels, residential care facilities, respite care, dementia specific services, retirement living, as well as planned activity groups at day centres, for older people who wish to remain active and engaged with their local communities.

Located in Canterbury, BASScare is seeking a Lifestyle Assistant for our community services Social Activity programs.

 Role’s expectation

Whilst meeting client needs by planning and facilitating safe and rewarding programs you will transport clients on outings and to our community centres in Canterbury and North Balwyn. You’ll provide friendly and attentive service whilst keeping them engaged and supporting them in ways that encourage independence and enjoyment.

  • Reporting to the Social Support Coordinator, your responsibilities will include (but are not limited to);
  • Research, plan and deliver outings.
  • Client engagement through conversation, planned activities and outcomes based activities.
  • Transport clients to and from their homes to a variety of activities and venues in greater Melbourne.
  • Home safety and venue risk assessments
  • Help monitor and maintain bus maintenance
  • Assist with social activities programs including community dining room, special events and respite programs.
  • Ensure compliance with Aged Care Quality Standards and BASScare policies and procedures.
  • Client notes, care planning and upkeep of client assessment information.

You are enthusiastic and take pride in delivering the best possible service to our clients

You are an effective communicator you have good interpersonal skills and have the ability to work within a multidisciplinary team

You are motivated and well organised to complete your day’s work

Ability to resolve conflict in a constructive manner

Essential

High level driving skills, a current driver’s license and ability to drive a 12-seat mini-bus 

Computer skills

First Aid Certificate 

Current Police Check

The right to work in Australia

Highly desirable

A certificate III in Aged Care, certificate IV in Leisure and Health (or equivalent) or higher qualification.

Experience in Aged Care, Disability Services, Community Services or similar role

Hours 

14 hours per week (2 days) Permanent Part-time.
