About this opportunity

The exercise classes aim to assist the resident in building their strength, gross motor skills, balance and provides a positive and motivating environment which can improve the quality of their mental health. By volunteering your time you can develop your passion for exercise and healthy living and make an impact in the resident’s life. The volunteer will develop their skills in elder care, communication, problem solving, planning and organisation, leadership, management, interpersonal skills, creativity, mentoring and coaching skills.

Tasks and Responsibilities

Work alongside the instructor to teach a class of elderly residents. The volunteer will set up the room with chairs and equipment, help to coach individuals and provide support and encouragement. After the class is finished the volunteer will pack up the room of equipment and will help with tea and coffee.

Skills and Experience

The volunteer will be friendly and outgoing and be able to communicate effectively. Experience in fitness and teaching is advantageous but not essential for this role.

Additional requirements

National Police Certificate

Time Required

  • Fridays 9:45am -11:30am
  • Each week ongoing.
  • Commitment is negotiable/flexible. Eg. every third Friday


Training will be provided for the successful applicant.
