BASScare is in need of a fantastic volunteer to assist our program coordinators in delivering our ever popular dementia specific respite program. The Volunteer is an integral part of the team in this program and offers a helping hand to the staff. The program currently offers a day of much needed respite for carer’s of individuals living with Dementia. Volunteers are able to interact and encourage clients to engage with the group, staff and the activities on offer. The Volunteer assists staff with setting up and pack up of meals, activities and provides general support.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Encouraging the clients to be as independent as possible in an activities based day
  • Playing games, completing quizzes, having a sing-a-long and more
  • The volunteer’s main role is to provide social support and assist with preparation and clean up

Key Skills and Experience:

The volunteer will have exceptional communication skills, be encouraging and have some knowledge about dementia

Benefits:

The volunteer will develop their skills in communication, leadership, problem solving, teamwork, elder care. The volunteer will also learn about caring for a client living with dementia. All volunteers are encouraged to apply.

National Police Certificate

Time Required

Thursdays 9.30am-3.30pm
Optional 10.00am-2.00pm

Training

Training will be provided for the successful applicant.
