Bass Care: Embracing Community Care

The Aged Care Accreditation Process

The Australian Government has implemented a number of measures to monitor the quality of care and services provided in Commonwealth -funded aged care homes. All funded homes must meet required accreditation standards and demonstrate continuous improvement regarding the quality of care and services provided to residents.

The Aged Care Standards and Accreditation Agency Ltd is the independent body responsible for managing the accreditation and ongoing supervision of Commonwealth-funded aged care homes. More information can be found about the Accreditation Process at accreditation.org.au.

Note: that the accreditation results can be found under the old names of Chatham Lea and Harcourt.

Residential Services

Residential ServicesResidential Aged Care is provided by BASS Care at Faversham House in the quiet leafy surrounds of Canterbury, only 8km from the Melbourne CBD. Faversham House and its Hamer Wing, completed in July 2006, replaced the old Harcourt Nursing Home and Chatham Lea Hostel, providing full accommodation services for 112 low level care residents and 44 high level care residents. Residents are now able to move from low level to high level care, as their needs change, without having to move to a different facility.

In 2006 BASS Care underwent three aged care accreditations and each facility achieved passes against all 44 standards – this is the best possible rating and testimony to our commitment to be a leading community based provider of best practice residential and community services for the aged.
