Role of the BASS Care Board
The Board is responsible for establishing the strategic direction and policies of BASS Care. It is responsible for monitoring the performance of the activities in line with the strategic intent and overseeing financial performance on behalf of the Members. The Board ensures adequate risk management in order to maintain business continuity and service provision.
The directors of the BASS Care board are:
Malcolm Hardy - Chairman
Malcolm has more than 35 years business management experience and holds a number of directorships in the software, transport, financial services, aged care, medical and manufacturing sectors.
He is a Director in the Business Advisory Services division for Hayes Knight Melbourne. Formed in 1996, Hayes Knight is an association of independent accounting and business advisory firms across Australia and New Zealand.
Malcolm's areas of specialisation include management buyouts, finance proposals and business packaging. Following the merger with Cran Cameron Partners in July 2004, Malcolm was appointed Managing Director of INPACT McDonald Carter and was instrumental in the move to the Hayes Knight Group.
Malcolm is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia, a Certified Practising Accountant, a Certified Financial Planner, and a Member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. He was appointed to the BASS Care board in 1993
Peter Lester - Treasurer
Peter was appointed to the BASS Care board in 1997.
Trevor Gorman
Trevor Gorman has significant commercial experience gained over the past 40 years including over 19 years as a partner of the accounting firm Deloitte Touché Tohmatsu. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants and has a Post Graduate Diploma of Business Administration from Swinburne University. He is currently the CEO of The McMullin Property Group. Trevor was a director of the North Balwyn Citizens Welfare Association from 1994, and was appointed to the BASS Care board in 2001 when the two organisations merged.
Bernard Corser – Convenor Appeals Committe
Bernard Corser is the Principal of Bernard Corser Property Consulting. Bernard established the company in 1988 and has been actively involved with real estate in Melbourne for over 20 years. His experience has given him an intimate knowledge of and expertise in all aspects of buying, selling and managing properties - residential, commercial and industrial.
Bernard holds a Certificate of Business Studies (RMIT) and a Further Certificate of Management (RMIT). He is a licensed real estate agent and a licensed auctioneer and a member of the Real Estate Institute of Victoria and of the Australian Real Estate Institute. He volunteers his time to many worthwhile causes and holds positions on numerous boards and committees.
Bernard is a regular conference speaker on property investment and is widely sought after as an independent commentator on property matters. He was appointed to the BASS Care board in 2002.
Marie Curlis
Marie Curlis is a Registered Nurse and has held various management positions in the Department of Human Services for many years. She is currently the Vice President of the Victorian Division of the Australian Association of Gerontology. Marie was on the board of the Airdrie House Society for many years prior to her joining the BASS Care board in 2006.
Pam Davey
Pam is a Medical Laboratory Scientist and has worked in Pathology for over 35 years. She is currently CEO of ARL Pathology, an independent and privately owned general and specialized pathology practice. Pam has had significant experience with mergers and acquisitions and held a variety of management roles in Pathology services over the years, having worked for Dorevitch Pathology, Mayne Medical Centres, and Mayne Diagnostic Imaging. Pam was appointed to the BASS Care board in 2005.
Nicholas Jackson
Nicholas Jackson is a Director and Shareholder of Hay Group, a global management consulting firm specialising in organisation design, leadership and employee motivation. He has spent the last 16 years consulting to organisations in the public, private and not-for-profit sectors. Earlier he held management roles in the oil and gas sector. He has also assisted in the privatisation of government-owned businesses in Victoria. Nicholas has a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Melbourne and a Master of Business Administration from Monash University. He is a Member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and was appointed to the BASS Care board in 2010.
