Independent Living

BASS Care offers a variety of Independent Living Units across four locations in Canterbury and Surrey Hills. Accommodation varies from permanent self contained units to bed sit style units.

BASS Care units provide the perfect solution for those who wish to live independently within a supportive community. The self contained units are ideal for people who no longer want the burden of maintaining their own home yet do not need supervised care.

The units are affordable and very comfortable. Some of the key benefits include:

Eligible residents can also access a vast range of support services including:

  • Social activities & outings programs
  • Transport to shopping and social activity programs

Airdrie House

Ten refurbished one-bedroom units in a fantastic location and a supportive community environment. A great central location, 250m to Canterbury station, a bus stop right out front and next door to Conochie Hall! All units have spacious living room with kitchen and dining and ample storage cupboards. The units have a separate large bathroom with laundry included. Electricity, heating, gas & water are included in the cost.

Twenty four refurbished one bedroom units with ensuite bathrooms. A great central location, 500m to Canterbury station, a bus stop right out front and within walking distance to Conochie Hall! The block is situated on three levels and most units have small private gardens. Each unit has a living room with kitchen and dining area and all underbench storage in the kitchens is in drawers rather than cabinets, making for very easy access. There is a communal laundry and car parking is available.

Bed Sit Accommodation - Sharrott House

BASS Care have seventeen self contained Bed Sit units with a combined livingroom and bedroom, and an ensuite bathroom. Some units have been designated as "Short stay rooms" - ideal accommodation for a course, conference, medical appointment or holiday, low cost and convenient to public transport.

All units have built in robes and a separate kitchenette with internal access to shared laundry facilities. Long stay clients are able to provide their own furniture, whereas, for short stays, rooms are fully furnished and serviced. All clients have access to a large communal lounge and television room, with an adjacent dining room and well-equipped kitchen. Electricity, heating, gas and water are included in the cost.

The units are located next to Airdrie House, in an attractive garden setting with easy access to main roads and public transport. Access to other services such as Social Support and Community Dining Room facilities may be available to eligible clients.
