Thanks to Dementia Australia and their team of facilitators we are offering our dedicated team of Volunteers the chance to learn how to communicate with people with dementia. So many of our Volunteer roles are centred around communicating with people with dementia and sometimes this can be a barrier to supporting these clients. As an organisation we are seeing an increasing need to support older people in our services who have dementia.

For example in our residential aged care facility, Faversham House, we urgently need Volunteers who can sit with residents in our Assisted Memory Unit in the afternoons. This training will help you understand what impact dementia can have on a persons ability to communicate and how to develop strategies to support successful communication. Training is open to ALL BASSCare volunteers as we are sure this training will assist you in your volunteering role.
